Besides that resizing the window destroys the gui, it just does not record the video. It pretends to be recording (grey "start" button) but does not. Want my money back.
The app interface is very nice, easy to setup the triggers, works well as advertised. However, the files are way TOO BIG. An 18 seconds clip consumed 167 MB on disk with iSpyRecorder, whereas the same clip in Quicktime (File -> New Movie Recording) took only 3.6 MB, at higher quality. The app is useful only for very very short clips. For what I need (monitor and record my dogs activity), I finally used QuickTime, which gives 46x smaller files with better quality videos. To me, the app really needs to compress and improve the quality of the video files to be useful.
I bought this on a lark to check out my sleeping patterns, but a 17 second recording test resulted in a 158MB file at the medium video setting (320x240 H.264) and the low audio setting (32 kbps AAC). That is absolutely ridculous! Also there is no sensitivity control on the motion detection. There is something called a "video delay", but adjusting that seemed to have no affect on how sensitive the motion detection was. Based on what I saw now, this app is not ready for prime time and needs a bunch of work.
I had been using another more expensive security camera program but I got tired of always updating it. This program does a good job and the file size is surprisingly small. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to record their area while away from the computer.
Unlike the PC version there is no option to manually change the save location. This basically negates the whole purpose of even using ispy because all the files are saved to the attached hardware and if a theft occurs will most likely be stolen along with it. Would not recommend until they patch this function into the mac version.
Very good app, Hi recommand It... Just a detail to wine on more star, would be to add the possibility to make in motion detection, record movie in one film and not cut sequence by sequence. Serge.
On staptup shows "The operation could not be completed. no other information is available about the problem" The program cant find my camera
Motion detection levels not clear, no delays. Heavey CPU usage. Resizing the app does very funny things. No compression. No instructions.
This app uses an insane amount of CPU. It takes my CPU usage on MacBook Pro from around 10% up to around 60% which makes it unusable. Especially if you use the audio detector because the fans come to cool the system down because its using so much CPU and and that starts the recorder! Crazy. Id like my money back. How?
This progam is pretty easy to use, but offers limited functionality. There are also some things I dont like: - The start and stop button dont go "on", it is hard to tell whether it is recording or not at first. - After leaving the house for 20 minutes, my dog walked around a little bit and left me with 4gb worth of recording. It is crazy. Even just 10 seconds of recording is 20mb. - No settings to change quality or compression codes. - After you click the red close button, the program is still on. The webcam light is on and the CPU usage is elevated. You need to command-q it to quit it. - After you are done, you are left with for example 40 little movie files of 5 or 10 seconds that you have to click one by one. It would be nice to see this changed to one file, maybe with time stamps in them. Either way, it sorta works, its 3 dollars (alternatives are 30 dollars, and not available in mac store yet) so I dont regret buying it. But I would love to see this thing get updated.
Please update the app!!!! Its pretty bad. To make it great, I would like to choose the video capture folder and COMPRESSION SETTINGS. The files are huge, they dont need to be, and Im even having trouble playing them back. This program consumes a ton of CPU regardless of the setting. If those issues were fixed, this app would be great! 5 Stars when it is.
I bought it because it said "Motion Detector", but it really seems to use audio threshold and not motion detection to start a capture!!! Kind of a waste for me!!
This is a neat little toy. Motion and audo sensor work well. Would be nice if it didnt make the fan come on when it starts recording or the camera light !
Quick review… instructions limited, not easy to set, not easy to consolidate videos
Buyer beware - it needs some work and I have not seen an update for a while now….
A 7-second recording gobbled 245MB. A 50-second recording clocked in at a whopping 1.2GB! YUMPIN YIMMINY!! And there is no Help, User Manual, documentation of any kind, nor a Contact link to this developer. The "support" links merely take you to the developers website, and no contact opportunities there, either! Apples Photo Booth is the recording solution you seek!
Used this today worked really well the motion detection works well as well as the sound activation! As far as the concern of how much space the vids take up they are very simple to delete and loaded very quickly. Really happy with this works better than any other camera surveillance software. Would buy again only downfall to the product is the green LED comes on when the program is in use to solve that problem I just put a dot of black washable marker on top of it to dim it, wipes right off after your done using it! Overall bravo, great job!
I installed this app and tried it immeidiately…….failed. I clicked the record button but nothing ever looked like it was recording. No files popped up in the list of recordings and it almost seemed to have a huge lag problem. Im on a 24" iMac w/ plenty of ram and disk space. Shouldnt be a problem running this program. Wiiiiiiiiiish I could get a refund!
The software works fine and records detected motion. I tried to locate where I could store the video on an external drive, but there are no options. It would appear as another person stated, it does not seem to have any support or instruction manuals.
